I am retired from 40 years as an optometrist. 20 or so years ago I said to my husband that ‘anecdotally’ there were far more patients with asthma, eczema, and diabetes than when I first qualified. This has now proved to be the case. Perhaps planners and NHS managers should take more cognisance of front line staff. We may not have the time for scientifically led double blind trials, etc. but we do work at the coal face and our views are invaluable. Please listen to your doctors and nurses when they give input.
It seems amazing that the politicians have forgotten that they need to remember that they are only our servants, these fools are not interested in our care. Perhaps its time for local people to accept that the powers to be do not think that we folk in the Telford area are not worth looking after, they lack humanity because they are young and will live forever until they find that they need urgent medical care, or they have to take several buses and two hours each way to visit their sick Mum, or brother who has been injured in an accident. When that time comes I hope that someone might show them some compassion even though they are a bit short of it now. The numbers never add up.
Why move the women’s & children’s unit to Shrewsbury?????? I had a recent operation in this unit & it would have been very difficult for visitors if they had to come from newport to RSH . The treatment I had & the nurses that work on the unit are outstanding. Why move the A&E from Telford to RSH ???? RSH can’t cope now what is it going to be like in the winter . When Wolverhampton cannot accept patients from Telford , what exactly are ‘supposed’ future fit going to say then .... apart from blame the council !!!!! easy words me thinks. Maybe some future fit should try living in the area & TRY getting to Shrewsbury in a hurry from the east side of Shropshire.
I had a friend who recently had to go to Shrewsbury A&E department and the level of care was dreadful. How will they cope if the Princess Royal closes??!!
As Telford is growing with housing & people it is vital we keep this hospital. The Children's part due to the amount of money spent on building it and maintaining. It is also close to M54 for any accidents. There will be loss of life if we do not keep this hospital and will the Secretary of State get involved then!, In stead of sitting on the fence we need action to help people in these hospital about their future jobs & life style. It is not good for moral in doing their present job.
As a child I remember the trips to Cosford and Shrewsbury to get my injury’s fixed. Time to get there and pain are still in my memory. The people of The new town of Telford fought for years to get a proper general hospital, do not let people with no idea of our needs take it away from us.
I have experience of suffering from a suspect stroke/heart attack and had to travel by taxi to the PRH as no ambulances were available. Thankfully it was a false alarm. How long would it have taken me to travel by taxi to RSH with no blue lights or siren
The reason for the indecision is due to poor management by the Council over a period of growth in the population which was the result of the successful Telford Industrial growth. It is now a question of can a further investmemt of several hundred million be obtained from Government and then managed effeciently by the council. ?? ?? The complete failure of
