We need your support to get a rescue plan.

Overnight closure of the Princess Royal Hospital's A&E can be avoided

When the board of the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trust (SaTH) voted to agree on the option to close Telford's A&E department overnight, they also said this could be avoided if they got the staff they needed.

They said they could not continue to rely on the "heroic" goodwill of staff and later outlined exactly how many more staff they needed to keep Telford's A&E open round the clock. The trust said it needs at least seven additional middle grade doctors and a minimum of 15 more registered A&E nurses.

Cllr Shaun Davies, the leader of Telford & Wrekin Council called on the government to step in at a national level with a rescue package. It was on this subject that a UK Government and Parliament petition was launched stating "Government and those at the top in the NHS have the power to resolve this and stop it happening."

What can you do to help?

1. Sign the petition. More than 10,000 people have signed it meaning the Government is obliged to respond. We are still waiting for that response.  If you haven't signed the petition, please do so. It the number of online signatures reaches 100,000 the petition will be considered for debate in Parliament.

2. Join our march and rally on in Wellington at midday on Sunday 4 November. If you're coming, tell us here and we'll keep you updated

3. Write to the Health Secretary Matt Hancock matt.hancock.mp@parliament.uk and your local MP.
